Three M&Ms

On January 25th a five-week Good News Club® started at Mary Lou Dieterich Elementary school in Modesto, and Nadya and I had the privilege of teaching alongside the team from Calvary Chapel Modesto.

On the first day, one of the teachers from the school walked by and came to a dead stop. A look of surprise lit up her face as she stared at the sign that had been placed to alert the children to gather at that spot for check-in.

She began to tell us that she had attended a Good News Club as a child (in a neighbor’s home), and about all of the good memories of it that she still carried with her. One of those memories was of M&Ms.

“In my home growing up we didn’t eat dessert, but at Good News Club Mrs. Trimmel gave us three M&Ms for saying our memory verse correctly. I still remember treasuring those three pieces of candy and looked forward to club each week. This is such a good opportunity for the children!”

Fourteen parents enrolled their children in that club, 12 came, and 4 gave their lives to Jesus. We don’t have M&Ms, but memories for a new generation of children have now been made.
