Be Sober, Be Vigilant!

From the Director…Tammy Beers

Every year, our ministry comes under attack in some way.  There have been times when there is a change in personnel in a school district office and our requests for schools are denied, UNTIL we have a chance to educate them, share our history and clarify the 2001 Supreme Court decision confirming access at public schools.

Sometime we are challenged by those who wish to eliminate any mention of the Bible or God or Jesus on a campus.  It could be a parent or a teacher.  BUT because parents have the right to determine what activities they register their children for and the Good News Club is an optional, extra-curricular, after-school activity, parents who are opposed simply do not register their children.

Covid felt like an attack, but since it seemed to affect everyone, everywhere, we managed our way through and were grateful to return to 60 school sites this spring.  This year the attack is more stealth.  It is trying to creep in and block our way back to school this fall.  I am not at liberty to specify what this attack is yet.

But I am asking that you pray for our ministry every day and for the protection of our access to schools throughout the four counties we serve. Pray the schemes of the enemy will be thwarted and the door to reach the children on elementary school campuses will stand wide open.  In fact, pray that the number of schools we access this upcoming school year will exceed any previous year!  May the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be realized because He is faithful.  He loves the children.  He has protected this ministry for over 84 years.  We seek His guidance and wisdom as we navigate each day, being sober and vigilant.

With a grateful heart,

Tammy
