CEF Silicon Valley March Prayers & Praises

Set your mind on things above

“Kim, don’t look!” I’m 14 years older than my sister, and babysat her a lot. Whenever I heard that phrase, I knew she wanted to do something she knew was wrong. I’d reply, “Why not?” “Because I want to…um…never mind.” She would then go find something better to do. She outgrew that phase when she was four. Decades later, I had a boss who would walk up to my desk and say, “Kim, I suppose…”, which meant he was going to ask me to do something illegal or prohibited by the company. He never did grow up.

The Bible says we are all born sinners, but Christ died for us so that we no longer have to be slaves to sin. My sister, brother and I grew up in a Christian home where we were introduced to Jesus at a very young age, but very few children have that privilege. My former boss certainly didn’t. That is why Good News Clubs and 5-Day Clubs are so important. They allow us to reach children who would never hear about Jesus at home. Doors are opening for us in some of the most challenging areas of San Francisco, but we do not have enough workers to meet the need. Please pray with us that God would provide people willing to look beyond the squalor of places like the Tenderloin district of San Francisco and see the children who are in such desperate need of Salvation.

Ministry Update – Christina Wang, director

We would like to invite you to our annual fundraising banquet on March 16, 11:45 AM-1:15 PM at Cupertino Community Hall, 10350 Torre Ave., Cupertino. It’s our prayer to rally believers to support CEF ministry with time, talent, and finances because “The time is NOW!”

We are praying for sponsors to cover the cost of the banquet so that every dollar raised at the banquet will go directly toward the ministry. We need $8000 for the food and venue. Will you pray with us for this important fundraising event?

Please pray for Ysabel as she will be attending the Children’s Ministry Institute (CMI) at CEF International Headquarters for 5 weeks starting March 18^th. Pray for her adjustments at CMI, and time management while she’s taking the courses with lots of written assignments and verbal presentations. Pray as the Lord trains her and gives her insights on how to adopt what she is going to learn to CEF ministry in San Francisco.

Please pray for us as we begin to prepare for summer ministry in the month of March. Pray for all the details of organizing the summer ministries (CYIA commuter school & 5-Day Clubs).

Prayers and Praises

Christina Wang: Director

*Praise the Lord for the 32 children who attended the “Go and Tell” workshop on Feb. 24^th. Even though the majority of the children attend church, knowing about God is different than being able to verbalize it. I’m so thankful to see young evangelists emerging from the training. Their hearts for the lost world are so evident, and they are passionate while they practice sharing the good news. Pray that the children who came to the training will take the message of Salvation to share with their friends and family.

*Please continue to pray for wisdom and discernment as I continue to navigate through the different seasons of ministry. Pray as our committee and I work on how to promote CEF ministries to the believers in the Bay Area. Pray also that the churches would see us as a mission organization and a training school for the gospel.

Ysabel Woody: Field Missionary

*We praise God for the wide open door we have for ministry in the San Francisco schools at this time. Please pray for God to continue to call the local churches who are interested in starting Good News Clubs into action. Please pray that many hearts are moved to serve and give!

*Please pray for the leaders of our San Francisco clubs and that God will supply new team members and leaders to support and sustain the ministry here.

Kim Noyes: Office Manager

Praise that my dad is finally home after more than two months in the hospital and care center. Please continue to pray for his healing, as he is still on a feeding tube and unable to walk on his own. This means life-style changes for all of us. He currently has full-time caregivers.

Prayer Requests for Good News Clubs

Monday Agape Preschool Clubs (2): Christina, Gina, Wita

Praise the Lord for the older kids who are paying attention to the lessons. The Easter lesson is a little hard for some of them as they realize what Jesus went through to save them.

Pray for all the children to come to the point of decision in the Lord before the school year ends. Pray also for the younger children who are easily distracted by each other to have more discipline during the story time.

Monday Inspirations Montessori Preschool Club: Wita, Gina, Christina

Praise God as we serve, we can see God is moving.

Pray for the children to be moved by the Holy Spirit to trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior at an early age.

Monday Online Zoom Club: Fu-Ying, Chieh, Ines, Joyce, Mathis, Priscilla, Sheila

Praises- praise God we can have Zoom club! Praise God for all the children, their attention, their participation and enthusiasm. Praise God for the dedication of our team.

Prayer request – that some of the kids can come more consistently. For job finding for one of the child’s parents – she has been asking for this prayer request for months. Please pray for more children to attend, pray that the children may retain all that they’ve learned through out adulthood.

Tuesday Los Altos Christian School: Sue, Desi, Moony, Rebecca, Sharon

Praise: The kids have consistent attendance and are eager to come to the club

Pray: That more students will remember to bring back homework.

Wednesday Redwood Christian Preschool: Lorraine & Ashley

Praise the Lord for the lovely preschoolers who shower us with their love each week for Good News Club.

Praise the Lord for some ingenuity to problem solve at the club when visuals weren’t available.

Pray for the children to make a decision to follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior before school ends.

Wednesday Cadillac & Impala Neighborhood: Dia, Joan, Annie, Bo, Bruce, Emily, Jet, Joshua, Peter

Praise: Two of our volunteers have completed Teaching Children Effectively 1 (TCE 1) training.

Pray: Our Lord will help them to apply what they have trained in GNC, home church and mission trips.

Praise: Although Valentine Kick-Off party clubs were cancelled due to the rain, the Team is not waiting passively to restart our GNC meetings. We are preparing for Easter Outreaches in March and April.

Pray: (1) The Lord will provide favorable weather to resume GNC meetings. His mighty hands will bring the children and give them a teachable heart to listen to His words. (2) God will use the team to proclaim His Easter message clearly and boldly in this neighborhood.

Wednesday City Academy: Ysabel & Christina

Thank God that we have been able to continue our biweekly Good News Club chapel service at City Academy in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco! Pray that the kids’ relationships with Jesus will be strengthened and for volunteers to continue the work there.

Thursday Monarch Preschool & Elementary School Clubs: Wita, Jen, Jennifer, Letitia

Praise the Lord that we see God at work in the lives of the children as we serve Him.

Pray for healing to some of our volunteers who are experiencing struggle. May the Holy Spirit give us strength to still persevere and trust in the Lord.

Pray for more volunteers to have hearts and vision for the Lord.

Friday Lawton Elementary: Phil, GG, Mo, Piers, Susan

Praise for one of our 1st Graders accepting Christ.

Pray for more of our children to do their Quiet Time sheets.

Friday Visitacion Valley Elementary: Gail, George, Angelica, Maureen, Natalia, Xi

Praises: We had a great new team teacher Natalia start helping out in class, and her energy and motivation has been a great source of joy and delight for the class and kids!

Our class has also had a few more new kid visitors and we are praying they continue to attend.

Prayer Requests:

For the newcomers to continue attending and make commitments to follow Jesus.

For the other participants to continue to grow in their understanding of applying Biblical truths.

For calmer class time and better rule following (we’ve had a few ongoing interruptions).
