An Everlasting Love

Grateful and Prayerful

We resume Good News Club ministry today! There will be ministry at 20 schools in Fresno Unified this month, plus more for the fourth session which will begin in March. In the surrounding school districts, another 26 schools will start new Clubs, or resume the Clubs that started in the fall semester. That doesn’t include the two Community Clubs we are conducting for families in Clovis Unified.

We are so grateful for all the locations the Lord has provided and ask that you pray each day for the children to come in each of these schools throughout the valley. Pray that they will come to Club, that they will have ears to hear and hearts to understand their need to believe in Jesus as their Savior. Pray that they will invite their friends and share what they are learning at home with their family. The Lord often uses the children to witness to their parents, sometimes reminding them of their need to restore a relationship with God, or prompt them for the first time to trust Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

Will you continue to pray for Clovis Unified School District Board and Administration? Pray that they will restore the afterschool Good News Club so that children can meet Jesus and those who believed in Him at a Club can be discipled by returning to Club and learn more each week. For many children, an afterschool Good News Club is the only opportunity they will ever have to learn about Jesus and the Bible and Heaven and the truth about sin. Our hearts are burdened by this closure, but we trust the Lord to restore ministry in His perfect timing.

Volunteer Opportunities

In addition to our ministry volunteers, we seek Christians with business and professional careers, who understand that children can believe and be regenerated by the Holy Spirit, to consider applying to be a member of our local governing committee. These volunteers oversee the ministry ensuring we are holding to the mission of CEF to evangelize boys and girls with Gospel of Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God and establish in Bible-teaching churches. They also raise funds to support the ministry and promote CEF in their circle of influence. To learn more about this area of service, please contact Tammy Beers by email or phone the office.

The God Can

We teach the children how to pray and that God hears and answers prayer. They also learn that “God can do anything.” For this reason, and to support them in the importance of prayer, a GOD CAN is in the Club. This is a literal can, labeled and with note cards to write prayers so that the volunteers can pray for their requests as well.

One of my sweetest memories was a little boy who was in foster care. He was very attentive and loved coming to Club. When we returned after Christmas break, he told me “God can do anything! My foster parents adopted me!” About 8 years later, I was at a restaurant and I recognized that boy, now a handsome young man working there. When he came to our table I asked him, “Do you remember me?” He smiled and said, “Oh Mrs. Beers, I could never forget you.” Just recalling that moment brings tears to my eyes. Let’s not forget those who have encouraged us in our faith journey and pray that the Lord will not only bless them, but continue to give us divine appointments so that we can lead others to Christ!

Praise God with us for:

  1. The spring season of ministry for Good News Club in so many school districts throughout the Valley.
  2. The children who have believed in Jesus and that they will share their faith with others.
  3. Those who support our ministry financially with a monthly gift. Donations tend to drop off at the beginning of the year so the faithful donors who make a recurring gift are very important.

Pray with us for:

  1. A strong start at each site and that children will invite their friends. Promotion is very difficult at most locations limiting us to sidewalk distribution to make families aware of the program.
  2. Ministry to be restored in Clovis Unified. The children deserve the opportunity to learn about Jesus, parent choice needs to be respected for afterschool options.
  3. Tammy on Wednesday, 1/24, for a successful 9th surgery on her left eye. She is traveling to Southern California for a procedure to correct strabismus which is a complication of the previous surgeries. May the doctor be led by the Lord, and may there be no complications this time as well as safe travel home on 1/25.
