We started a new Good News Club on Wednesday. But the whole week, there was spiritual warfare and scheduling conflicts but we decided to press on even if we weren’t able to promote as well as we would have liked. When club started, we had one sixth grade boy, Ronald, who came in. As his dad came in to sign him up he said, “I saw your post on Facebook and wanted my son, Ronald, to learn some good values. So, if you can instill some good values in him, that would be great.” I jokingly replied, “Don’t worry, we’ll pound some good things into him”.
Quickly, we realized that Ronald was the only boy who was coming to club so we decided to change the club format to sharing the wordless book with him and letting him ask as many questions as he wanted. We had an hour and a half and 5 pizzas at our disposal, so it worked great!
One teacher started to share the Gospel with him but then got a call that a friend was in the emergency room, so she had to leave suddenly. So another teacher took over and continued to share about Jesus. When she got to the clean page, Ronald accepted Jesus as his Savior! We gave him a Bible and wrote his name in it with the date that he believed in Jesus.
Since he was on the older side, I invited him to our church youth group the following night. He came! He had dinner with 30 other teenagers, had Bible study, and he got connected with the body of Christ.
The mission of CEF is to evangelize, disciple, and establish children in a church and we were so blessed that in two days, Ronald was already established in church so he could grow in Jesus. Praise God!
