Thank you for remembering our situation with Chico Unified School District in your prayers! This week we had a Christmas Party Club on one of the school campuses. We were able to come on at 5:00 pm, and we included a pizza dinner. We weren’t sure if kids were going to come…but they came! Some of the parents even stayed and were listening intently. None of the kids that were there currently gather at a church, and I believe at least one of their parents is still exploring Jesus. We had such an awesome team to meet each need, and everyone served with such enthusiasm. I wanted to share with you the best part of the night. During the Bible lesson I was sharing about the perfect Son of God dying for our sins out of His tremendous love for us. I watched one girl (probably around 10 years old) have her eyes get red and fill up with tears. It’s a holy moment when you see someone get the Gospel and respond to Jesus in their heart. I felt prompted to share John 1:12 as the invitation verse that through receiving and believing in Jesus we can become children of God. When I asked if anyone was trusting in Jesus for the first time, her hand shot right up. One of my teammates was able to counsel her for that salvation decision. She learned that the girl had grown up in foster homes, and she was completely overwhelmed (in a really good way) by the love of Jesus and that she could be a part of God’s forever family. Do we have an open door in Chico? I would say so! Yes, it was a lot of legwork to make it happen, but it happened! And when I consider how many kids are like this little girl, lost in darkness, separated from God, but ready to respond to the Good News message of Jesus, it was so worth it! ~Andrea Meyer, Local Director “I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who will believe.” Romans 1:16 |
