Be My Witnesses

Good News Club

The 2023-2024 school year will conclude in just a few days. It’s been a good year and a hard year. We launched with joy when Clovis Unified approved the Afterschool Good News Club at 10 sites in September, but were saddened beyond measure to be cancelled after only 2 weeks. When I started on staff in 2009, I was responsible for coordinating the Clovis Unified School District and continued until our last day in the district. At one time there was ministry in 30 different schools. I worked with some wonderful people at the schools and especially in the Facilities Department at the District Office. However, we know God’s plans are perfect and that they can’t be thwarted by the enemy. He allowed this to happen and my prayer is that Christians living in the District, staff and parents, will be a witness to the families and children who do not yet know Jesus as their Savior.

From this disappointment, the Lord enabled many volunteers to expand ministry into existing districts, especially in Fresno Unified – the third largest district in the state of California. For the first time in our history of school-based ministry, there was a Good News Club in 50% of the elementary schools! But the Lord also led some to help expand into new districts, like Lindsay Unified School District! When we finalize the stats for May, including the six additional schools where Clubs were held, we will likely have reached 2,000 children this school year!

For God’s Glory,

Cross City Church Generosity

Nick D’Acquisto, Executive Director of Missions and Local Outreach, had contacted me in January to share that the Frappe House and CrossCity Missions would be sponsoring our local CEF work for the first quarter of the year. What a wonderful act of kindness and help in promoting awareness of our ministry.

But the goodness didn’t stop there! Dani Mann, Mission Administrative Assistant, arranged for us to pick up a donation last week. It was presented by Maddie Perreira, Local Outreach Coordinator, to Deborah Naigaga, Director-in-training and Lynnese Castle, Ministry Coordinator.

This was an expected outpouring of love and generosity! But, equally important, we have a follow-up meeting to talk about Good News Club ministry. Please express your appreciation to CrossCity Church by supporting the Frappe House!!

Turner Elementary Neighborhood Outreach

Our Superhero’s were out and about again last weekend, but they weren’t alone. In cooperation with Cornerstone Church and their Feeding Fresno ministry, we were privileged to take a team and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children and families from the neighborhood.

Not only did at least 25 children hear the Good News, 9 made professions of faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. There was great discussion with many from the church as well as pastors. We love these church collaborations and hope that many more will be confirmed throughout the summer months.

Praise God with us for:

  1. The privilege to be a witness for Jesus, our Lord and Savior, in the schools and communities throughout our city and our valley.
  2. The support and love from CrossCity Church through the years, but especially for this past quarter. What an expected gift!
  3. For the Lord’s provision of expanded ministry for Good News Clubs through this past school year.

Pray with us for:

  1. Summer ministry as young people are recruited and training is confirmed. May the Lord raise up those who seek to glorify Him.
  2. A strong finish this week of the May Good News Cubs and every child we had the privilege to meet and share the Good News.
  3. The Lord’s protection over schools and families throughout the Valley as schools wind down and schedules change. May teachers have a restful and refreshing summer break.
