Children Leading Children

Not Ready For it To Be Over

Each time we lead a child to Christ, we encourage them to grow by doing the following things:

G – Go to church and Sunday    School

R – Read the Bible and pray

O – Obey what God says in the Bible

W – Witness to others

It has been a joy to see children take the witnessing part seriously. We have had reports of children walking the school halls loudly proclaiming their love for Christ, and others leading their friends to Christ on the playground.

Last month I received another report of a child taking witnessing to the next level. One year ago, the Good News Club® at Denair Charter Elementary began with volunteers from Connecting Point Nazarene. Nadya and I helped launch that club last October, and when I visited it in January, I saw a thriving club with children who

loved both the Good News Club and the faithful teachers who taught them each week.

One of those children is a little girl named Carter (front row, far right). Carter loves Good News Club, and at the end of the school year didn’t want it to end. So during the summer months, on her own, she gathered friends and continued the GNC® weekly. They didn’t have material, so they gathered all the take home material they had been given throughout the year and used those as teaching material. She even provided small Bibles for each of the kids who attended!

Carter’s grandmother related this story to Michele Turpin, lead teacher of the club (back row adult on far right), who related it to me and a group of other teachers. Both her grandma and her parents are so proud of her commitment to God and to witnessing to others. Hear audio of Michele relating this story below.
