His Purpose

According to His Purpose

Twenty years ago this month I started my first Good News Club (GNC). After a 25 year career in healthcare- starting as a Registered Nurse for clinical practice and leading to an MBA working on the business side, my heart’s greatest desire was to be a full time wife and mom. God brought me the desire of my heart in an unexpected way that proved it could only be by His divine intervention. He gave me one year to focus on my family and then made me aware of the spiritual needs of children. He opened my eyes to those who were not learning about Jesus and He broke my heart for children I had never met! The thought of children living in my community, separated from God the Father, and without any hope of eternal life drove me to recruit 8 other moms and train for GNC. In January 2004, the third GNC opened in Clovis Unified at Red Bank Elementary. We had 154 kids enrolled! We had to divide into three groups to manage that many children.

I can’t believe 20 years have passed like a vapor. How grateful I am for Gods call to reach children for Christ. There is great joy in leading a child to Christ!  My heart is full of joy for all the volunteers the Lord has brought to serve in CEF through the years and for the new ones He is still drawing to this work. My prayer is that many more will hear His voice and will respond obediently to apply as a volunteer.  Children are born every day, enter school every year but may not be taught about Jesus. The Lord has called us to love one another and there is no higher calling than to share the love and work of Jesus Christ so that others may believe and be saved to spend eternity with Him.

Thank you to all who have prayed over, volunteered and donated financially to the local missionary work. Thousands of children are being reached every year at school and in the community through outreach events.  We will always need more to give of their time, talent and treasure and humbly serve to reach more children with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May you have great joy as you contribute what the Lord leads you to do. And, may you actively share what God has called you to do with others. It just might be the means He uses to call others to join us, according to His purpose so that no child is left behind.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are processing applications for GNC Training and it’s not too late to apply. We need you to join us if you are concerned for the souls of children and their eternal wellbeing. Please prayerfully consider, but if its not for you, ask the Lord to lead you to someone He is drawing to this ministry. We need volunteers in Fresno, Madera, Tulare and Kings County.

Volunteer Application

Praise God with us for:

  1. Our current volunteers for all their time and preparation to teach the chidlren about Jesus.
  2. The children who attended the first week of GNC! May they invite their friends so others will also learn about Jesus.
  3. The faithful prayer warriors who lift up our requests, seeking to honor the Lord and accomplish His purpose. Praise God for your prayers for my eye surgery last week. My recovery was smooth and I am feeling very well.

Pray with us for:

  1. New schools in new districts to be opened and expanded as we have the volunteer resources to make requests.
  2. Health and safety for all children, volunteers and staff on each school campus. May nothing interfere with God’s desire to draw the children to Himself, may every obstacle be removed.
  3. Christians to respond to the need for new volunteers in the mission field and on the local governing committee.
