Our Ministries – JYC

Junior Youth Challenge (JYC) Club®

Reaching the Next Generation with Hope

Junior Youth Challenge (JYC) Club® is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF) designed to reach teens with the Gospel and help them grow in their faith.

Trained Christian leaders meet with students in public schools, community centers, churches, homes, and apartment complexes—anywhere young people can gather safely and with their parents’ permission.

JYC Clubs give teens the opportunity to:

  • Hear the Gospel and learn how to follow Jesus
  • Grow spiritually through Bible study and discussion
  • Develop leadership and service skills by getting involved in missions and serving others

What Happens in a JYC Club?

Each week, leaders guide students in exploring what the Bible says about real-life issues teens face. Through interactive discussions, Scripture memorization, music, and games, students learn how to apply God’s Word to everyday life.

Every club includes:

  • A clear Gospel message, with invitations (never pressure) to trust Jesus as Savior
  • Discipleship training to help students build character and grow spiritually
  • Fun, meaningful activities that reinforce biblical lessons
JYC Clubs typically meet once a week for about an hour, sometimes even during lunch at school.

Can We Really Teach the Bible in Public Schools?

Yes! In 2001, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Good News Club v. Milford Central School that Bible clubs can meet in public schools after hours on the same terms as any other community group.

That means JYC and Good News Clubs can freely share the Gospel in public schools—and students can attend with parental permission.

What Can a JYC Club Do for My Neighborhood?

A JYC Club strengthens the spiritual foundation of your community by:

  • Connecting young people with caring Christian mentors
  • Building relationships between local churches and families
  • Encouraging moral values and positive character development
  • Creating a sense of unity and hope through God’s Word

Whether hosted in a school, community center, or housing complex, JYC Clubs shine the light of Christ right where students live and learn.

The Purpose of JYC

JYC helps students grow into bold, faithful followers of Jesus who can:

  • Understand and share God’s Word
  • Develop a strong moral foundation for life
  • Experience real hope through Christ
  • Positively influence their homes, schools, and communities

Who Leads a JYC Club?

JYC Clubs are led by trained Christian volunteers who care deeply for young teens.
Each volunteer completes CEF training, signs the CEF Statement of Faith, and commits to nurturing relationships with students while teaching biblical truth in love.
