Saved And Being Saved!

But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

Acts 4:19-20

Peter was so scared to identify with Jesus that he denied even knowing Him—three times! And now post-Pentecost, he stood before the religious rulers of Jerusalem and said that he and John could not help but speak about the words and works of Jesus to which they had been witnesses.

Obviously, being empowered by the Holy Spirit is the primary explanation for Peter’s newfound courage and willingness to stand for Jesus in the public square. But it is also evidence of the ongoing and transforming power of the Gospel. When we refer to the Gospel, we usually think of salvation as an event: “I was saved.” But it is also a process: “I am being saved,” as in 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For those of us who are being saved” the Gospel is “the power of God” (CEB).

Consider both dimensions of the Gospel in your life: saved and being saved. Is there evidence of the power of the Gospel in your life?

Turning Point, Dr. David Jeremiah

I thought this was so relevant to all we are facing today! I was fortunate to believe in Jesus at 8 years of age. However, I have been challenged more in the last 10 years to apply my faith to every decision, than at any earlier time in my life. It influences where I donate money, it limits where I chose to shop, and it calls me to be more courageous in conversations publicly.

As most of you are aware, the ministry has been challenged significantly this school year. We continue to pray daily for the Clovis Unified School District Board. I expect the Lord of Lords and King of Kings to move hearts and minds to restore our presence with the Good News Club. We are praying it will be in time to start in the fall.

Today, I have commitments from enough volunteers to request 18 schools the minute we get the green light. But, there are 34 elementary schools in Clovis Unified! We need Christ Followers, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to exercise courage and commit to being a Good News Club volunteer in Clovis, Fresno, Central Unified and the other 20 school districts we serve in Fresno, Madera, Tulare and Kings County.

Will you prayerfully consider volunteering?

Will you also say, “For those of us who are being saved the Gospel is the power of God?” Children are worthy of our time. Will you be a witness in the public square and speak of who you know Jesus to be? We must reach them while they are teachable and give them the opportunity to also be empowered by the Holy Spirit when they chose to believe in Jesus. Their future is much more challenging than anything we have experienced as children. Please share this email with family, Bible-study and community groups to help us expand the human resources necessary to reach every child!

For His Glory,

Tammy
