The Power of Bible Study for Children
Child Evangelism Fellowship of Northern California is passionate about the importance of bible stories for children. Our various ministries for children help them grow and learn in Christ. Since 1937, CEF has ministered to children as a way to establish them in the Word of God. Bible stories are a part of this as they learn about the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through stories. We know that children face many problems in a challenging world. We want them to have a legacy of faith to pass on to the next generation. What Does the Bible Teach Children?
Children learn every day from whatever surrounds them. Often entertainment and social media teach a worldview that is misleading and ultimately destructive. Children must learn about true love from God. The Bible is a place of true teaching in all ways of life, including:
- Showing kids how to be a light and a guide for others
- Guiding them to understand how Bible stories affect their life
- Helping them root themselves in God’s world
- Teaching them God’s words on how to live through truth and instruction
Where Has God Gone?
There is an essential need for Bible study for children. It seems biblical hope is missing from many areas of our children’s lives, including:
Home – Many families get so busy with extracurricular activities and their schedules that they forget to sit down and read the Word of God. They worry about bigger homes and fancier technology. Families even stop spending time together around the dinner table because of their fast-paced lives. There is no way for them to be connected with biblical stories when they don’t have quality time together.
Schools – Religion is not allowed in public schools and most school-related events. Children must follow the classroom rules, but they don’t understand the basis of why things are wrong. Schools teach children to be kind but do not explain the foundation. Removing Christ from school leaves gaps where children don’t understand the need for love and kindness.
Churches – Some churches have false leaders and fill time with random events to keep children entertained while at church. Bible verses are thrown out the window because children are too busy playing to learn them. Kids shouldn’t go to church for entertainment. It should be a place where they can play and learn about Jesus simultaneously.
