Why a 5K fundraiser? Because of kids like Manny. Just this week I told you about our new Good News Club at Madison Elementary in Stockton that started on May 5. Yesterday two new children showed up, one of which was a sixth grade boy named Manny. He didn’t appear to be listening, but after the invitation was given he leaned over and asked one of the volunteers a question. “What do I need to do now?” “You can go over to the back of the room and talk with the counselor if you want to know more about receiving Jesus as your Savior. Would you like me to take you back?” she replied. “No. I’ve got it”, he said, and then stood up, walked to the back, and gave his heart to Jesus. Among the many things said, Manny expressed an inability to say no to sin. “I do some really bad things, and I can’t seem to stop doing them.” Now, the Holy Spirit lives in him to help him to do what is right! There are thousands of Manny’s in our area who have absolutely no ability to say no to sin. The only hope for them is Jesus, and CEF has the tools to motivate, train, equip, and support churches to bring Jesus to them. But we need your support, and the 5k fundraiser is a great way to get involved! That’s why. Will you join us? |
