“This is Where I Need to Be!” Patty came to the first club but was picked up before Good News Club® was done for her weekly appointment. I felt discouraged that she would never get to stay for the club since those types of appointments are hard to change. The next week the same thing happened, but this time Patty said to her aunt, “This is where I need to be. I just know it.” She cried as she left. Patty missed the club for a few more weeks and then finally she was able to attend the whole club on the Christmas party club day. That day, she accepted Christ as her Savior. She told me she had never heard any of this before. At the next Good News Club, I started the small group discussion asking if anyone had questions. Patty immediately blurted out, “How do I know if this thing stuck? I mean, am I still a child of God or do I need to do more to stay in His family?” I walked the small group through the assurance of salvation and Patty glowed with joy. The next week Patty came to talk with me after I had given the invitation. She had tears in her eyes and she said, “I need to know how to talk to God. I really need to thank Him for forgiving me and helping me to forgive others.” It was the best prayer of thanksgiving and joy that I have ever witnessed. ~By Amber Swain, Chico Good News Club Volunteer There are many children who are trying to find the truth. Like Patty, they too would receive Jesus as Savior if they were given the opportunity. In fact, studies by George Barna Research have found that approximately 33% of kids would trust in Jesus if someone would simply take the time to share the Gospel message with them. That’s why it’s so important that as believers we go and share the good news about Jesus with kids. They are the largest and most fruitful mission field in the world! In Child Evangelism Fellowship® we firmly believe that we can’t wait for the kids to come to us. We must take the Gospel to where they are. That’s why establishing Good News Clubs in their schools and community centers is so important. Will you join us in helping us accomplish this mission? This spring we are hosting not one but three fundraising banquets in key areas of ministry. We do this to celebrate all that God has done in the past year and look forward in anticipation to what He’s going to do in the future! You’ll have a chance to learn more about CEF® and enjoy a nice dinner. An invitation to give to the ministry will be extended. Fundraising events end up providing one-third of our Northern Counties budget so that we can continue to support our existing Good News Clubs and start up new ones.
