A Hot Mess – I need your help!

I wrote this for Monday but had alarming news that will pre-empt what I had planned. However, the title is still perfect! We have a Hot Mess right now with Clovis Unified School District.

On Friday night, I got emails from Clovis Unified cancelling every approved Good News Club retroactively. That was 10 Clubs and a pending facility request. The reason stated is :

CUSD no longer allows external groups to be on site before 6 pm.

Not only is this disappointing, it is completely unnecessary. Norm Anderson, Deputy Superintendent, came to meet with me in December because a Clovis dad has requested a Satan Club or Drag Queen Story Hour. I shared with him that where these have been requested in other states, they are short lived. I encouraged him to stand firm and if the Club occurred, it would not be well attended. Unfortunately, the next communication I got was the cancellation of all Good News Clubs.

I need everyone who opens this email to pray immediately for the CUSD administration and Board of Directors, asking the Lord to open their eyes and not hinder the Gospel of Jesus Christ from the children.

Let your pastors know, ask for Sunday prayer tomorrow, share this email with as many Christians you know here and abroad.

Next, I need as many people as possible to attend the Clovis Unified School Board meeting

If you can attend, please wear your Good News Club T-shirt. We want to respectfully demonstrate the value and support for GNC’s in Clovis Unified. We need volunteers from other school districts to attend as well to show widespread support.

If you can’t attend, please be praying for the Lord’s favor as I speak for the 2 minutes allowed in the public comment session.

Liberty Counsel is helping us and willing to help CUSD with any litigation that comes if they do not cancel the Good News Club.

We need to be faithful right now and take a strong stand for the Gospel. Don’t be guilty of the sin of omission. Seek the Lord humbly, ask for His forgiveness so you will be a clean vessel and seek His favor to restore the afterschool Good News Club. God compassionately loves us in spite of our sin.

I wanted to thank you and the Good News Club for giving my children a Bible and the word of God into their lives. I always wanted a relationship with God but I didn’t know how. I was excited when I moved into the area from Los Angeles and found out that the Good News Club was offered after school. I signed up my two children, Ben and Bree. They loved it. They would come home singing songs, quoting scripture, and they were learning how to use the Bible! Growing up catholic and going to catechism classes, I was never taught these things. When covid hit, the Good News Club was still there to support my children and I. I could never repay them enough for that. I am very sad to know that unfortunately, The Good News Club is not at every school site. They currently are not at my children’s elementary school but it did not sever the relationship and appreciation I have with Ms. Deborah and the Good News Club. Thank you so much for blessing children with bibles and the good news. Not only did you change my children’s lives but mine as well. 

Received last week before the Clovis Unified decision was announced.
