Because the seeds we plant bear fruit quickly!
Last week I visited the Good News Club at Denair Charter Elementary, (which launched last October), and was able to say hello again to Ruth, a girl who came to know Christ the second week of club. I gave her a fist bump and she gave me a big smile.
About Ruth, I wrote last October: “There are just some kids that you know for sure, for sure, for sure that they genuinely accepted Christ. Ruth is one of those kids.”
But still, I have sometimes wondered how Ruth was doing since her initial decision to follow Christ.
After the children left last week, the volunteers were telling me about how the club had been doing since the Fall. They said that they had just finished teaching through the life of Daniel, the theme of which was “Be bold for God.” After one particular lesson they asked the kids how they had been able to be bold for God, and Ruth’s hand went up into the air.
“I led one of my friends to Christ”, she told the group, and the mouths of every one of the volunteers dropped to the floor in amazement.
And the same day that I visited last week, another child responded to the invitation and went back for counseling, but it wasn’t to receive Christ. “Why did you come back today?” the volunteer asked.
“I want to know how I can lead my friend to Christ” the child responded.
Why are we doing a 5k fundraiser?
That’s why.
Will you join us with your feet and/or finances? Details of the event are below. Thank you! |
