Beautiful Feet 5k

Why a 5k Fundraiser?

Joel as a child

Because of kids like Joel.

Behind that smile a war was waging. Sin was crouching at the door ready to destroy him. Lust was already prepared to kill him. And anxiety threatened to make him a life-long slave of Giant Despair in his Doubting Castle.

But Joel was also saved at a young age and loved the Lord. That means that he had the restraining influence of the Holy Spirit within him who lovingly corrected him, held him back from life-destroying sin, and protected him from himself. When he fell, He did not fall headlong, because the Lord was holding his hand. But had he not been saved young, He would have been a statistic.

Joel’s testimony is all about the protective power of God in his life from a young age.

Every child faces the same danger. Sin is ready to pounce on them, lusts are waiting to kill them, and anxieties are eager to make them life-long slaves. If they do not come to Christ now, as children, they are likely to become statistics, and even if they do receive Christ as adults, they are likely to have big regrets.

I want “the protective power of God” to be the testimony of every child within our eight counties. But in order for that to happen we need to get the Gospel to them first. And that will require manpower and money.

This 5k fundraiser is just a fun way to address that serious need. We have reached almost 550 children in our outreach clubs and events so far this year (with summer still to come), but more need to hear. They not only need to be saved from sins punishment, but also from sins power, a power that would destroy their life now.

Why a 5k? Because I am Joel, and more kids like me urgently need to be reached.

That’s why.

(Will you join us? If you have already, will you gather more people? We have 11 walkers signed up so far with seven weeks to go until the event. We’re praying for 100 walkers and $32,000 raised [twice as much as last year]. Details are below. Thank you!)

WHAT?

The “Beautiful Feet” 5k is only 8 weeks away! In 2022 we had 43 walkers and $16,000 total was raised. We’d love to have 100 people walking in 2023 and raise $32,000.

Will you join with us and do a 5k of your own? Walk by yourself, or grab your friends and family, and take a walk for the unreached children in your town.

Registration is $50 per person.

WHERE?

Anywhere you want! In 2022 5ks took place on city trails, National Parks, college campuses, and even on treadmills. They also took place in three states (CA, NM, and HI) and in multiple localities in California. Some people walked alone, and others with teams.

WHEN?

April 24-30, 2023.

Pick one day, the week of April 24, for you/your team to take your walk/run. We encourage you to take selfies and videos of your 5k and text or email them to me and I will post them, so that others can follow you, cheer you on, and join in with you to raise money for CEF!
