This verse is taught in our curriculum, often set to music. Who are the lost? It’s everyone who has not believed in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, It could be an elderly person or a young child. I will never forget the day the Lord broke my heart for children I had never met. It was a Sunday service in August 2003. It was the first time I heard… There is less than a 15% chance an individual over the age of 15 will ever make a decision for Christ. I wept. God prompted me to think of the children in my neighborhood, at my sons elementary school and their playmates. Did they know Jesus? Would they be lost and separated from the Lord for eternity? It was during that same sermon I learned about the Afterschool Good News Club (GNC). The Lord had led me to voluntarily retire from my healthcare career after 25 years to be a stay-at-home mom. But at this moment, with tears in my eyes, I knew He was calling me to the mission field of the elementary schools in my community. Today, my prayer is that you will also be brokenhearted for the children, throughout our community, that only know the name of Jesus as a cuss word. That you would be burdened for the “kids who are hurt and broken.” That’s how our state director described the children in her GNC. But it is a true statement in most elementary schools. No one knows the hour of Jesus return, but we know He is returning and it’s our duty to tell them about Jesus. What a privilege! |
