“I’m going to share this with my atheist friend!”

Good News Club For One

We started a new Good News Club on Wednesday. But the whole week, there was spiritual warfare and scheduling conflicts but we decided to press on even if we weren’t able to promote as well as we would have liked. When club started, we had one sixth grade boy, Ronald, who came in. As his dad came in to sign him up he said, “I saw your post on Facebook and wanted my son, Ronald, to learn some good values. So, if you can instill some good values in him, that would be great.” I jokingly replied, “Don’t worry, we’ll pound some good things into him”.

Quickly, we realized that Ronald was the only boy who was coming to club so we decided to change the club format to sharing the wordless book with him and letting him ask as many questions as he wanted. We had an hour and a half and 5 pizzas at our disposal, so it worked great!

One teacher started to share the Gospel with him but then got a call that a friend was in the emergency room, so she had to leave suddenly. So another teacher took over and continued to share about Jesus. When she got to the clean page, Ronald accepted Jesus as his Savior! We gave him a Bible and wrote his name in it with the date that he believed in Jesus.

Since he was on the older side, I invited him to our church youth group the following night. He came! He had dinner with 30 other teenagers, had Bible study, and he got connected with the body of Christ.

The mission of CEF is to evangelize, disciple, and establish children in a church and we were so blessed that in two days, Ronald was already established in church so he could grow in Jesus. Praise God!

Go and Tell!

By the end of a Go and Tell Training in East Bay Chapter, the kids were challenged to go and share what they learned with their friends and family.
Afterwards one said, ‘I’m going to share this with my atheist friend!’
And another said, ‘I’m going to share it with my sister!’

Clean as Snow

While driving to a Good News Club for a supervisory visit, dark rain clouds gathered and snow, which rarely happens in the area, was forecast. It started hailing as I parked. The office staff  welcomed me and directed me to the Good News Club classroom. As I walked, it began to snow. The kids were filled with excitement for this unique experience. They looked through the window with great enjoyment. The Good News Club volunteers began the day’s lesson on the “Clean Page” of the Wordless Book. How great that God would give us snow on this day to remind us how He cleans us from sin as clean as snow. I watched the precious children take turns praising and praying. I was so happy to see the team teach the children how to pray and offer each one a chance to pray. The volunteer’s encouragement led all the children to participate.

As the lesson was finishing, an administrator alerted us that parents were called to pick up their kids because of the heavy snow. Walking to our cars, I was overwhelmed by the volunteer’s commitment. The weather was challenging and could have been distracting but they used it as an object lesson and endured extreme conditions to be there for the children. I am so grateful for all our faithful volunteers; for their dedication and sacrifice to reach children for the Lord. May the Lord bless each and everyone of them!
