Making the Most of Every Opportunity

Making the Most of Summertime

Christian Youth In Action teens share the Gospel at a county fair.

Summertime is upon us and we are making the most of every opportunity! During the month of May, Child Evangelism Fellowship had a booth at both the fair in Red Bluff and the Silver Dollar Fair in Chico. Between the two fairs, we were able to share the Gospel with 265 kids, plus their families! Twenty-seven of those kids indicated that they wanted to trust in Jesus for the first time.

Our booth was outside at the fair in Red Bluff, and one day we got caught in a wild thunderstorm! The rain was even heavy enough to create some small holes in our pop-up tent! The fair shut down for a period of time, and several families found refuge under our tent. It was an awesome opportunity to share about our Savior with them while we waited for the severe weather to subside.

Christian Youth In Action Camp is Here!

Next week, teens from across Northern California are gathering together to receive training as summer missionaries. They will draw near to God each day in chapel & devotions. They will spend time in class learning how to share the Gospel and lead evangelistic outreaches. They will also have the opportunity to practice teaching on one another before being sent out as summer missionaries when they head home.

Please pray for our teens next week. Pray that they would lean into Jesus as they prepare to serve Him this summer. Pray for the many kids that will learn about Him through these incredible teens!

It’s Never too Early to Plan for the Fall!

As quickly as summer begins, so too it will come to an end. It’s not too early to mark our Good News Club training dates on your calendar! These trainings are mandatory for all new Good News Club volunteers. Due to extenuating circumstances, these will be the only trainings offered in our chapter for the fall semester, so please make every effort to attend one if you would like to become a new volunteer.

**We are tentatively planning for a fourth training in the Lassen/Plumas Counties area for August 19. Date and location TBD.

Meet our New Committee Members

Faith and Larry Shelton were both raised in Christian homes and trusted Christ at an early age. Even so they both had their classic teenage rebellious years. At the end of those rebellious years, Faith rededicated her life to the Lord. Larry did the same at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa when he was baptized in a radical turnaround on September 10th, 1970.

Faith and Larry met at Azusa Pacific University and were married in SoCal. As of this writing they have been married 598 months. They raised four amazing children who are all married and following Jesus.

Together they founded “Soul Mates For Life.” When their home was a total burndown in the 2018 CampFire, they were free to travel ranging from Cambodia to Michigan to share this unique training event for marriages (separate track for leadership TEAMS) which has recently been translated into Spanish and introduced and accepted into the U.S. military.

Faith is a retired surgical nurse (RN). Larry’s first career was Medical Technology, but his calling was ministry. Larry finally answered that calling in 1983 and went on to lead two churches over a total period of 33 years. They have a heart for ministers and missionaries and are “shepherds” with Standing Stone Ministry.

When Andrea Meyer came to their church in Paradise (Evangelical Free Church) and spoke about CEF, and after hearing another committee member, Dave Anderson share his involvement with CEF, they had to know more. To investigate the “tug” on their hearts, Larry and Faith set up an appointment to meet with Andrea. Sensing God’s leading, they went on to a CEF training event and realized this was a ministry they are intended to be a part of. They both agree that CEF is a Spirit-inspired ministry that is uniquely positioned to address the challenges today’s children and youth are facing.
