CEF Norcal Believes in the Power of Bible Study
The Bible is full of amazing stories to help children learn about Jesus. These stories range from understanding all God has done for us to teach children how to live through Jesus Christ. Child Evangelism Fellowship of Northern California wants to share everything we’ve learned from Bible stories with others. We’ve compiled a list of some good Bible stories to tell children today. Since 1937, CEF has shared the gospel with millions of children worldwide. Contact us to learn more about CEF Norcal programs in your area.
Adam and Eve
Book of Genesis, Chapter Two
Adam and Eve were the first humans ever created by God. They lived in the beautiful and perfect Garden of Eden. God told them they could eat off any tree except the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. A serpent tempted Eve until she ate an apple from the tree and shared it with Adam. They knew they disobeyed God. This is the first known sin in the Bible, so God banished them from the garden. They had to suffer the consequences of feeling pain and living a hard life. Adam and Eve were given all the riches and beauty in the world yet still fell to temptation. If they obeyed God, life could be different today for everyone.
David and Goliath
1 Samuel, Chapters 16 and 17
God instructed Samuel to find a new King to replace King Saul. Samuel went to Jesse, who had eight sons, but Jesse only showed him the strongest and finest sons. The Lord told Samuel he wanted the youngest son, David. As the war between the Israelites and Philistines took place, the giant Goliath challenged Israelis in battle. David decided to fight Goliath with the royal armor of God. He chose to face Goliath with only a slingshot as his weapon. David slung a slingshot, hitting Goliath and killing him instantly. The Philistines tried to run away when Goliath died, but the Israeli army defeated them. David teaches our children that God never looks at someone’s appearance but looks at their heart.
Jesus Christ is Born
Books of Matthew and Luke
Mary was a virgin engaged to Joseph. Gabriel, an angel of the Lord, told her that God chose her to have his son, Jesus. When Jesus was due, Caesar Augustus issued a decree to take a census of all babies in the Roman Empire. Joseph traveled to Bethlehem with the pregnant Mary. There were no rooms at the inn in Bethlehem, so Mary and Joseph took shelter in the manger. Mary had the sweet baby, Jesus. Jesus came to save the world from sin and is the Savior of humanity.
Jesus Walks on Water
Matthew 14
Jesus told his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead while he went to pray on a mountainside. The boat was in the middle of the ocean, and Jesus was on land. He noticed the disciples were fighting the strong winds, so he walked out to them on the water. The disciples were fearful and began to cry. He calmed them. His disciple, Peter, asked if he could also walk on water. Jesus told him to focus on him, and he could walk on water. When Peter got out of the boat, he looked down and began to sink. Jesus saved him but was concerned. He asked, “Why did you doubt?” This story teaches children that they must focus wholly on Jesus without doubting.
Jesus Rises From the Dead
Mark 16
After Jesus was crucified on the cross, Mary Magdalene and two others went to anoint Jesus’ body. They noticed the stone in front of his tomb was missing, and no one was inside. The women ran away because they were scared. Jesus began to appear to his followers as he was very much alive. One man, Thomas, put his finger in Jesus’ wounds. Jesus explained to the crowds, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” God wants us to believe in Him and follow His words without tangible proof.
